Original name: “Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi”

An absolute must-see, whether you’re a fan of anime or not. The story is highly imaginative, with many twists, turns, and intriguing characters. The animation is simply amazing. Pixar, Dreamworks and Disney are mere dust in Miyazaki’s shoes.

Very briefly, this is the story of Chihiro, a little girl moving to a new city with her parents. She gets lost in a bizarre land filled with the most extravagant characters. She must escape and rescue her parents in the process. By the time the film ends you’ll feel like you, too, left this world for a while.

Rating: Excellent.

The Lake House

A traditional love story with a time-traveling twist, this film requires the viewer to stop thinking. If you start thinking, you might realise the film makes absolutely no sense, and then you’ll stop enjoying it. Whereas, if you put your brain on hold and stop worrying, you might come out of the theater slightly entertained.

I enjoyed Christopher Plummer’s acting and Sandra Bullock’s natural charm.

Rating: Good.
